With the iconic Lake District National Park right on our doorstep, not to mention some of England’s tallest mountains and largest lakes, Cumbria is a fantastic place for adventure-seekers looking to enjoy the great outdoors. And every year, millions of visitors flock to our beautiful countryside to take in the serene landscapes, incredible wildlife and peaceful atmosphere that we have to offer.
Campsites, in particular, have proven popular places to stay for both tourists and locals looking for a rural break, and just last Thursday, Hog Roast Annan’s caterers were invited to a nearby site by the owner, Ian, who had asked us to put on a Gourmet BBQ spread for those holidaying there.
Our team was delighted to assist Ian with his event, and on Thursday morning, shortly after our catering manager, Lee, had loaded up the van with cooking equipment and fresh ingredients, he and the team sped off to the venue. Once the SatNav announced they had successfully arrived at their destination, the Hog Roast Annan crew quickly exited the vehicle and set straight to work.
As time ticked on, the temperatures began to climb until settling at 19 degrees celsius, which everyone agreed was much more tolerable than the 30-degree heat wave we endured just one week earlier! The warm weather, as always, sped up the cooking process, so once the meat was cooked through, Hog Roast Annan transferred the burgers, sausages, chicken kebabs, meaty marinated spareribs and BBQ pulled jackfruit into chafing dishes, where they were kept warm until the guests were ready to tuck in.
Using the time they had left before the holidaymakers showed up to indulge in the lunchtime feast, Lee and the team whipped up some Greek salad, mixed fries and coleslaw to accompany the main course.
At midday, the campers began to steadily arrive at the open-air dining area, and they were instantly impressed by Hog Roast Annan’s banquet of delicious foods! Wasting no time, they each helped themselves to a bamboo plate, which they filled with the dishes on offer. Everything on the menu tasted fresh and was packed full of irresistible flavours, which made the guests eager for more!
