Sometimes known as benefits or galas, charity balls can be described as being luxurious affairs that bring a large group of people together for an evening of entertainment, socialising and, our favourite, great food and drink options! But unlike the average party, these massive gatherings are in aid of a terrific cause, with the profits generated from the event going straight to charity.
Traditionally, charity balls receive donations from wealthy sponsors or businesses in the local area, but there are usually raffles and casino-style games for guests to take part in as well, which always helps to boost the donation pot considerably.
If you were wondering how and why Hog Roast Silloth is so knowledgeable about these events, it’s because we are often called in to provide catering for them, and we have to say, we always have a great time! Take last weekend, for instance, our caterers had been hired to serve one of our formal feasts at a black and gold-themed charity ball nearby.
The organiser of the event, Christy, had approached us months in advance of the function and taking the advice of our catering manager, Phil, she had chosen our sensational Hog Roast Dining Experience Menu, which boasts a canape selection, followed by a delicious 3-course meal.
Hog Roast Silloth was allowed into the venue 6 hours before the party kicked off, which gave our team enough time to work their magic. While our Hogmaster shouldered the responsibility of cooking the free-range pork and thyme and rosemary-seasoned chickens to perfection, Phil and the team expertly prepared the canape platters, which featured a choice of pan-seared fillet of beef, roasted halloumi and tomato crostini, smoked Scottish salmon, mini quiche and chicken satay skewers. They also prepared a vegan option of grilled veggie kebabs and sides, which included our homemade gourmet coleslaw, fresh salad options and buttered new potatoes for the guests to add to their plates.
The guests, who had come dressed to the nines in formal black and gold outfits, were amazed when they walked into the ballroom, which had been transformed with on-theme decorations. Once they had taken in the atmosphere and found their correct seats, snapping up a few canapes along the way, they eagerly approached Hog Roast Silloth to collect a plate full of tasty grub!
