‘Tis the season for giving, and at an independent brewery, Christmas arrived a little early for the hardworking staff. In a gesture of gratitude, manager Gregor orchestrated a corporate Christmas party that surpassed all expectations, leaving the 150 employees in awe of the festive surprise he had in store.
The anticipation had been building for weeks as the team tirelessly prepared for the busy Christmas period. Gregor, however, kept the details of the celebration shrouded in mystery. So, when the day finally arrived, the appearance of Hog Roast Appleby-in-Westmorland was met with astonished silence – the secret was out, and it was a feast beyond imagination!
Hog Roast Appleby-in-Westmorland’s catering manager, Frank, recognising the unique location, ensured punctuality by leaving HQ well in advance. This foresight paid off as the team seamlessly set up and presented a mouth-watering spread right on schedule. Hours of meticulous effort culminated in a delightful feast featuring slow-roasted free-range pork with crunchy crackling, accompanied by delectable sage and onion stuffing and applesauce. The menu expanded to include wintertime favourites, including cauliflower cheese, pigs in blankets, roasted potatoes, glazed seasonal vegetables, and generous lashings of our homemade gravy.
For the non-meat-eating staff, we presented our colourful grilled veggie and halloumi kebabs with tzatziki dip and sweet chilli sauce. We also provided baskets of gluten-free rolls and wraps, allowing guests to craft their own festive sandwiches – this simple feature became the huge highlight of the afternoon! This culinary spectacle concluded on a sweet note with mince pies accompanied by warm brandy cream, perfectly complemented by bottles of the brewery’s own festive ale.
The event was a resounding success, providing the hardworking staff with a well-deserved respite after a demanding year. Manager Gregor’s thoughtful gesture and the culinary excellence of Hog Roast Appleby-in-Westmorland’s catering staff combined to create an unforgettable experience, infusing the holiday spirit into the brewery and fostering a sense of appreciation and camaraderie among the dedicated team.
